Child & Adult Care Food Program

Child & Adult Care Food Program

Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

Did you know child care centers and family providers can receive reimbursement for serving healthy meals and snacks to children in their care? The Neighborhood Center is a sponsor of The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), a national USDA program that reimburses legally-exempt and group/family day care homes for providing meals and snacks to the children in their care.  We oversee programs in Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, Fulton and Montgomery Counties.

How We Help

The Neighborhood Center is proud to offer KidKare software (formerly Minute Menu) FREE of charge for all of our participants.  KidKare is the industry leader in easy-to-use daycare management software solutions for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). KidKare can be done on computers, smart phones, and tablets

Program Benefits

CACFP is considered the mark of quality child care; it’s difficult to find a daycare center that does not participate in the program because it is a win/win/win situation.  Children win by being provided with healthy meals that expand their tastes, families win because they don’t have to worry about providing extra food for child care, and the provider wins by earning money.

How We Help

  • Extra income: no matter what reimbursement rate a participant qualifies for, this added money is like a raise for a job well done. If income eligible, you may also be reimbursed for any resident children under age 13 that eat meals with the daycare children.
  • Parent satisfaction increases: parents are happy that they don’t have to pack meals and snacks and are happy they’re children are receiving healthy food
  • Better marketing: parents are more likely to choose a program that can offer carefully planned meals AND by supplementing their income, most providers offer a more competitive rate to parents
